A must-do in Tokyo! Visit the old Tsukiji Fish Market. Experience the rich & unique food culture of Tokyo, Japan.
The Tsukiji fish market has been feeding people in Tokyo since 1935 and up until very recently, was the biggest fish market in the world.
The inner market which was relocated to Toyosu comprises three main buildings: one for tuna and other fish, one for other fresh seafood, and a third for fruits and vegetables.
The Toyosu Market offers visitors a unique perspective on its bustling operations through an upper viewing deck, where they can observe the tuna auctions through a glass window without disrupting wholesalers.
Those interested in witnessing the tuna auctions should plan to arrive early, as most occur between 5:30 AM and 7:00 AM.
